Celebrate Life!
Friday, February 3, 2012 at 10:44PM Super Bowl Sunday has always been a big day in our family. Maybe because our family enjoys football so much! Even though our team, the Chargers, is not playing this Sunday, we will still have a football party with good food, good snacks and with lots of cheering & loud boisterous noise! It will be fun!
It is important to take the time to enjoy life and to celebrate even little things like football. Jesus came that we may ENJOY LIFE.
Jesus said John 10:10 “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance, to the full, till it overflows”.
To enjoy is to rejoice, to be glad, joyful and to delight. God wants us to enjoy life! We can be joyful because the joy of the Lord is our strength. Joy is a fruit of the spirit and the Spirit of God lives in us!
In Philippians 4:4, we are told to “Rejoice in the Lord, always. Again, I say, rejoice.” It is important to God that we live in His joy and that we rejoice in Him. The message translation puts it this way, “Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him!”
To revel is to take great pleasure or delight; to make merry; indulge in boisterous festivities. Revel is an occasion of merrymaking or noisy festivity with dancing, masking, etc.
To celebrate is to place value on something, to honor.
There are so many things we can celebrate in life! Deuteronomy 26:11 says, “And rejoice! Celebrate all the good things that GOD, your God, has given you and your family…”
This Sunday, much of America will celebrate this great game of football. There are many occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, milestones and holidays to celebrate. When you celebrate life in this way, you are a magnet, drawing people to God’s love, attracting people to God’s goodness! We should be great at enjoying life! We should flourish in the art of Celebrating!
God celebrates you! He rejoices over you! He delights in you!
“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
Celebrate God! Honor Him in your celebrations! Celebrate His extravagant love for you! Celebrate His goodness! Celebrate family! Enjoy Life! Laugh! Rejoice! Love! Flourish in the art of celebrating life!
