My Dream

I’m not quite sure why when God speaks prophetically to me, he has always used
dreams. Recently I received a word from the Lord that encouraged and challenged
me to keep my eyes on the prize; that is always Jesus. The setting is our new
campus.

“My Dream”
The church campus was alive with energy! There was a buzz, a picture of a hive,
bees moving with purpose. It was a Sunday morning and the freshness of a dream
fulfilled still hung in the air. Everyone was so happy to be in their place. New people
couldn’t help but be swept into the embrace of God’s love and grace. While the
physical building held the attention of young and old alike, it was the spirit of the
place that captured my attention.

As the first of two services began, the presence of God, ushered in by skilled
musicians and praising people, created an atmosphere that was both heavy and
light. From that moment on, we experienced God himself and all of the time, money,
frustrations, stress and pain seemed to vanish. As he promised it would, this place
had become a habitation for the Lord of Glory!

This particular day we had a guest speaker, a friend who was accompanied
by his entire family, his wife, adult children and grandchildren. While not the
norm, this entire family’s presence mirrored what was happening in the church
body…complete families coming together to experience the communion of a people
hungry for God and his precious word.

The most amazing sight was reserved for the end of each service. The service had
no end. It wasn’t that we stayed all day. We didn’t. But as people left, they carried
what they had received to their worlds and in doing so, church never ended. It was
the picture of a dairy farm. The people were the milk trucks and left the campus
for their delivery routes each day. For the younger generation it is like telling the
story of your life through the various outlets of social media. The story never ends.
Everyday a new wave of information hits your “friends,” “followers,” and those
within your sphere of influence.

In short, I saw a church who refused to be content with what God had blessed them
with and sought to replicate that blessing in others.
From this place, we could reach the world, to touch it with the same grace and love
that has transformed us. To Love People to Life.

“Make our sons in their prime like sturdy oak trees.
Our daughters…as bright as fields of wildflowers.
Fill our barns with great harvest…our fields with huge flocks.
Protect us from invasion and bless us with the strength of service.
Eliminate division from our streets. How blessed the people who have all this!
How blessed the people who have God! “
Psalm 144:12-15 MSG & TVV

Stress and Strength

2012, for me, in a lot of ways was very stressful. Stressful in that there were deadlines to meet, bills to pay and funds to be raised. I know these things are familiar to every household but the added stress and pressure in my mind is the responsibility I feel representing, not just myself, but the Kingdom of God. The concept that certain levels of stress can be beneficial is foreign to most. Scripture bears out stress’s strength. Hebrews 12:10 says, “Though our culture shuns hardship we would do well to remember that God uses it for our good, that we may share in His holiness.”...

Life

Webster’s dictionary has twenty different definitions for the word “life.” In the Bible there are three words that speak to this thing we call life. Bios: the manner of life. How we live it. How we choose to life. Psuche: The breath of life, both natural and spiritual. Who or what has breathed into you to cause you to choose how you live. Zoe: life in the absolute sense. Life as God sees it.

Islam and the Believer

I guess it's time for me to weigh in on Osama Bin Laden, or more specifically Islam. We are in a prophetic, historic season that the world has never seen. It's one that the church must recognize. Muslims today make up one-fifth of the population. Over one billion people claim the Muslim faith. It's the fastest growing religion in the world...

Get Out the Knife

There's more to overcoming sin's hold in our lives than removing guilt and shame. While I love the "clean" feeling I get when sin is broken and overcome in my life, there's so much more than feeling "clean" that we are to experience...
