Life

Webster’s dictionary has twenty different definitions for the word “life.” In the Bible there are three words that speak to this thing we call life.

  1. Bios: the manner of life. How we live it. How we choose to life.
  2. Psuche: The breath of life, both natural and spiritual. Who or what has breathed into you to cause you to choose how you live.
  3. Zoe: life in the absolute sense. Life as God sees it.

While we desire zoe to psuche us, what are we really bios? How are you living? I want to live a life that touches and loves people from despair to real living, found only in Christ.

I recently came across a story about D.L. Moody, who while walking home one night, came across a man leaning on a lamppost.  Moody asked him, “Are you a Christian?”

With that, the man flew into a rage and doubled up his fist.  “Mind your own business,” the man roared.

“Your soul is my business,” Moody replied.

Three months later that same man knocked on Moody’s door and said, “I want to be a Christian.” That night the man became a Christian and soon left to serve in the Civil War.  He became one of the first casualties but died with the testimony of Jesus on his lips.

D.L. Moody chose to live boldly with God’s breath on his life.

Have you made that choice?

You have to constantly cast Satan and his demons out of your bodies and homes. I have found this to be true, the more I study the Bible and pray aloud with my wife.
